    Yeast issues!

    We brewed a stout last night, pitched the yeast at 78F put it in the cold room and set it to 67F. Checked it today and it dropped overnight to 58F, it's slowly rising back up. And fermentation seems to be activating. Any issues you guys can forsee? Thanks We pitched .5L 1084 into 1bbl

    Off on SG/OG??

    Brew with smoked tobacco??

    I know it sounds crazy, but I'm from the country and there's nothing like the smell of fired tobacco barns in the cool fall air. So how about making a smoked porter or stout by smoking tobacco leaves just like they do in the barn?? Crazy? Possible??

    Need some Scaling help!

    Why u no carb beer????

    So just got a setup where we can carb 3 kegs at a time. Right now we have 2 hooked up. Beer has been sitting at 12 psi for over a week and still has hardly zero carb, is this user error on my part??? What gives??

    Checking Gravity??

    How much does yeast throw off a reading?? I try to check my brews from the conical a few times until i hit the FG I am targeting, but when taking a sample from the conical there is so much yeast in suspension that the sample I take is nasty/messy and not much beer; is there a better method?

    Dang OG!!!

    High OG??

    I had a target OG of 1.072 but instead hit 1.080...what would lead to this?? I think that my preboil volume was low; wouldn't this lead to a higher OG?? I am really trying to get this efficiency thing nailed down.... Thanks

    Gravity just not getting down there....

    Brewed an Imperial Red Ale 10 days ago. The target OG was supposed to be 1.062 but instead I hit 1.071. Its been fermenting now for the 10 days and is only down to 1.032 (target FG is 1.017) Its a 15gal batch, I used 3 vials of WLP004. Normally this tackles a 15gal batch without a starter...

    Rack 'em!!

    What's method do you guys use when racking from a conical? Do you dump yeast first and run the rest out?? Or do you dump yeast, let beer run clear then rack it off?? Or an alternate method? Thanks!!

    Brewhemoth Pressurizer???

    Scaling Spices!?!

    So I am turning a 3.5gal batch of Sweet Potato Ale into a 1bbl batch and I need to do some scaling on the spices. Is there a rule of thumb on scaling spices?? Right now I have them almost doubled, minus a bit. :drunk:
