Questions about 55gal Buffalo Trace Oak Barrel

Reason I am asking is because I don't know if we would be doing the FULL 55 gallon or half of that. If we have to do half, then I would probably need to carbonate the barrel to displace the air.

Questions about 55gal Buffalo Trace Oak Barrel

Couple of us are thinking about putting either St. Arnold Lawnmower or Canebrake Envie pale ale in the barrel to age it. Any suggestions or should we we do it differently? First time working with the oak barrel.

Alright. I read somewhere that the Bottling Bucket is able to handle total of 12 pounds of grains. The original recipe only called for 9 lbs. I just wanted to err on the safe side instead of pushing the limits. I am leaning more and more on the original recipe but I really like storunner's...

I like this idea. Would it be better to do 5 lbs of grain with my current setup or should I go ahead and do the full 9 lbs of grain in the original recipe. For the mash step, should I start off with 2 gallons of water at 170F to mash the grains in the bucket. Or should I start with less...

    Honey Rye

    Honey Rye

I have a burner, and a bottling bucket. I planned on getting a 24x24 grain bag in the bottling bucket. Put all the grains in that bucket. I would heat up 1.25 or 2 gallon of 170 F water to dump in the bottling bucket. Stir occasionally, while I heat up another 2 gallon of 175 F water. After I...

Any ideas for my 6th batch of beer?

How about soaking oak chips in Dr. Loosen's Riesling for a period of time then adding that flavor to an IPA beer? How do you think that would work?
