    Simple setup?

My set up is ultimate simple. It is Biab but I stay about 86% brewhouse efficiency. I mash, boil, and ferment in the same stainless kettle. Hard to beat a single vessel.

    Marzen - opinions

I usually do about 1/3 each pilsner, Vienna, and Munich malts. Then I add a half pound of caramunich. Bitter to 20ish ibus and you have a fan favorite. Everyone loves this beer when I make it. Usually ferment with Bock lager yeast at 50 degrees. Easy.

    Sam Adams 76

It's a decent beer but you can't distinguish noticeable lager qualities. Taste like a pretty good blonde though.

    How do YOU sparge?

I BIAB and do a pour over sparge. I have a large stainless colander that fits perfectly in/over my kettle. So I will raise bag, lower into colander, then sparge with cold water. This allows me to squeeze grain bag and not wear gloves for fear of burning hands. Used to never do a sparge and just...

    Love Golf?

Teeing off in 2 hours lol. I grew up a baseball player so the golf swing comes fairly natural to me. Couple years ago I could shoot regularly I'm the 80's but I haven't been playing since really. I can hit it a long way but that has severe consequences if it isn't straight.

BIAB and consistency / quality issues

You are literally brewing a style that is intended to be murky. I would take a closer look at your process and additions to make sure you aren't missing anything. I strictly BIAB and can make a crystal clear beer in very little time if I try to. Then again I make mainly lagers with the...

    Jaded Hydra chiller users

I posted a quick review of mine a while back. The Hydra is a beast. I just got to test it out Saturday with my much colder water temp and it took it from boiling to lager pitching temp very quickly.

Deer waiting for spent grain dump

I usually shoot at least one deer a year behind my house. I also dump my spent grains in the wood line right behind my house but they don't touch it. Maybe I need to brew some corn beer lol.

    Carnivorous Deer ???

Back on topic, I actually just put out feeders for my deer today so they will have supplemental food through the winter. Maybe i should put out some meat strips lol.

    Carnivorous Deer ???

Yeah was more a figure of speech lol. Lot of people don't have strong reasoning skills. Hey I support the no meat eaters.... More for me!

    Carnivorous Deer ???

Probably will be most observed during summer months when the deer need protein the most for antler and fawn development. Lot of animals will eat some meat here and there to get protein. Bet all the people who believe eating meat is wrong would think again once they learn just about every animal...

What is your 'must have on hand' style?

A solid lager is a must. Always easy drinking.

Tilt - Does it replace hydrometer?

I just got one and haven't had a chance to use it but my first order of business will be to see how it compares to actual hydrometer

How do i determine how much alcohol is boiled off during boil?

That's what I am trying to figure out lol. No alcohol is present during a boil in the beer making process but if the beer is already fermented and then boil then yes you will have alcohol in it.
