Indiana Plaato Airlock $90 Shipped conus

There is a calibration feature in the app that needs to be used the first couple of brews. After that, I was getting consistent results. I chose the Plaato over the tilt because it uses wifi instead of bluetooth out of the box. I have stainless steel fermentors and I saw reviews where the Tilt...

    Ss Brewtech Customer Service

Yes, you should have a reason for concern. Once again, there is no excuse for not having a telephone number to call and get customer service. I respectfully disagree with the previous poster who thinks they don't have the resources to maintain a customer service telephone line. This isn't some...

    Ss Brewtech Customer Service

Get used to only communicating with them via email. In other words, if it's a technical support question, it can take days to get the answer you're looking for. Michael does a good job and usually answers any questions within 24 hours but if there are any follow-ups, expect to wait another 24...

    Adding elderflower

Freezing doesn't kill bacteria, it only makes them inactive until they're heated up again

Has anyone tried out or have a ss brewtech glycol chiller? Thoughts

Mine works great. I have done numerous batches in a 90 degree plus garage with great results. Lagering in the high 40s is no problem. I used a cooler full of ice bottles and a pump to keep the conical temp controlled prior to this and it was difficult to keep the temp in the 60s unless I was...

    SSBrewtech Glycol chiller

The original preorders should have been delivered by now. Anyone have one running yet and can give us a review/details. Thanks

    Immersion or plate chiller

I have the Hydra immersion chiller from www.jadedbrewing.com and it will chill a 5 gallon batch to 65 degrees in about 4 minutes. Cleanup takes about 30 seconds. It uses under 20 gallons to chill a 5 gallon batch and I use the first 5-10 gallons for cleaning water. I looked at counterflow and...

    Concord brew kettle owners

I have three Concord kettles and have been very happy with them. Two are welded and one is weldless. I used the drill bit they included with the weldless kettle and it worked very well. I used a little 3in1 household oil while drilling and it took about 2 minutes to drill the hole. I've had no...

    Help Choosing an RO System

Another vote for BuckeyeHydro. I called Russ and he took the time to explain what would work best for my setup. He shipped my order the same day and the total cost was just as good as any similar setup on ebay. Great customer service.

    Dirty blichmann burner

I repainted mine with high temp silver paint from Lowe's about 8 months ago and it has held up well. The paint on mine started falling off after a couple of uses which is pretty disappointing considering what it costs new. I was concerned about the gas holes filling with paint but did not...

How long is your brew day?

3 hrs 45 minutes, 60 minute mash and boil, batch sparge for a 5 gallon batch. Time is from filling kettle to end of cleanup. 10 gallon batch tends to run closer to 5 hours due to longer boil times and longer sparge times.

Off Flavor that goes away in 30-40 minutes

I'm also going with over carbonation. I keg and have over carbonated several batches after I bought a new CO2 regulator. The beer really tasted bad but I knew it was over carbonated. I took a spoon and stirred the hell out of it in my pint glass and it tasted much better. Fortunately I keg so I...

Sun oxy oxygen cleaner not at dollar general?

All of the Walmarts around me have quit carrying Sun oxy cleaner. I'm on the west side of Indianapolis.

Yeast cake almost killed my dog!

Thanks for the warning! My Greyhound is truly the dumbest dog on the face of the earth:drunk:. I love him but he eats anything without even a thought. I'm going to be extra careful in the future

    Thermapen sucks

Thermapen is one of the best purchases I've made. Love it. I use it every day for cooking, smoking, beer making. Call Customer service and let them know your problem.

Best book for first time brewer

Mastering Homebrew:The complete guide to brewing delicious beer by Randy Mosher is very good as well. After you have a few brews completed, I would recommend Homebrew Beyond the Basics by Mike Karnowski.

    Concord Welded Kettles

I've had mine for a couple of months and have been very happy with it. I'm not a welding expert but all of the welds look good to me. For the price, they're hard to beat.
