    1K to spend

Hey guys!! So as the title suggests, i have a thousand bucks to spend to get into the all grain brewing game. The only other stipulation is i would like to be able to keg the beer to keep from bottling again. So i will need a base kegging setup minus the fridge for storage. So if you had to...

Results from high temps during beginning of fermentation?

Two brews in and I think I finally have a system for controlling temperature of fermentation. The good thing about this is I think my next beer will really benefit from this, on the downside my current batch may not. I know it was way too high, like 75/76 for around a 15 hr period at the...

    Another noob question

Ok so if I want my fermentation to take place in my carboy rather than my fermentation bucket what is the best way to transfer to it? I would assume to use my siphon but I guess I was concerned about pitching my yeast and then siphoning into the carboy and leaving the yeast behind. Thanks...

    Ipa 72 degrees too high?

I'm doing my first IPA, brewed yesterday, looked at it today and things look good but the temp is at 72. Not sure if its relevant but I'm using dry yeast. Is this too high for fermentation? Is it just a little over and ok? Or should I try to bring down the temp a bit to 68? Thanks a lot!

    Quick question

    Two beginner questions

Ok so these should probably be really easy for you guys, just wanted to clarify two things before I brew. This is my second batch and its a simcoe ipa. I received dry and liquid malt extract in the kit, I add them at the same time right? All it says is "add malt extract". Although I assume...

Cool gift for dad but trying not to break the bank

Trying to get my dad a gift is always the classic buying for the guy who has everything. So i had the idea of getting him somethin for his wine making. Problem is...not sure what all he has but i know he has all the basics. The two things i thought of were a bench corker? Or i know he uses...

    Hydrometer

Newbie hydrometer question...I just brewed my first batch yesterday! Beyond excited! I was deep into the brewing process when I remembered that I was at the point of getting a hydrometer reading. I have never used one before but I have one. But I don't have anything to use as a sample "vile"...
