So about the volume marks...maybe I figured wrong, but it seems the marks are off by a quart? The 5 gallon mark would be 5 1/4 gallons, the tick below it, the actuall 5 gallons, for example. My "into the fermenter" measurement seemed to confirm this as well.

Yeah, mine dribbles as well on creamer pour; sometimes it's dispenses with more force than others on creamer. I assume this is normal. I fill the glass most of the way, with a normal pour, then push it back to creamer to top off with the smooth head. If it's a longer pour than normal, I do it...

Okay, I'd feel much better destroying my old cooler and using the Coleman for camping, since it's bigger and will hold ice longer. (lid shuts better too). If there is no advantage (other than size) of one cooler vs the other, the old cooler being retired as a mash tun, sounds like a good end...

Surprisingly, kits and equipment at my LHBS are on par with online offerings...makes it a lot easier to support local AND he organizes group meetings every month for local brewers. :-)

Yup I've scoured the forums..this originally started when I was evaluating BeerSmith, noticed IBU's being low on extract kits, which lead me to the equipment profile setup, Brad's videoes, etc...and to this question...the IBU values are closer to the particular style if I take the water...
