jeffmeh I too was having large temp differences in my biab recirculating system. My temp probe was in the return tee in the lid,I then moved it to the pot wall under the cake rack false bottom and it was better .I know have it in a tee at the valve out of the pot and find that the mash gets about...

recirculating BIAB where to put my probe

well after a few brews I have tried the probe fitted in a tee with the sight glass but I believe it is too far away from the element and the take off ball valve(in a dead spot) as the temperature seems slow to rise when the pid applies heat and then shoots up (I have run auto tune), so I have...

    question for recirculating BIAB users

what do people do for the wort return? I notice on the high gravity system they use a spray nozzle ,does this not cause hot side aeration problems. I currently use a loc line hose but worry about the effectiveness of sanitising it with all the individual links thanks in advance Paul

    another recirculating biab question

I am finally at the end of my 4500 watt recirculating biab build .I have one more build question. how much space do I need to leave between the element and my false bottom style bag support(it is a perforated ss sheet than has about 1 inch clearance all around it and 2 mm holes in it.I hope to...

recirculating BIAB where to put my probe

well I have made the decision to put my probe in the pot opposite the element . If it turns out wrong I am adding a sight gauge later anyway so the hole is not wasted if it is ok I will go with a tee for the pt100 and gauge together just need my bag and the cake rack to come and its trial time

    question for PJ

having looked at the auberin PID manual online as I had read the sestos is very similar ,I found you can control the output manually just like the Auberin one .You need to change one perameter and then it acts just the same as the Auberin PID. I have therefore decided to build an exact copy of...

    question for PJ

thanks again PJ for your quick response my pid as a sestos one which like the auberin one has a manual percentage setting but I sort of feel the control via a pot is more sensative and I could react to a boil over quicker than entering programming and changing settings on the pid also I have...

    question for PJ

thanks pj sorry about the slow reply my RCCB circuit breaker trips at 30 mA so your 4000 ohms would give 60 mA so ok I think Another question I would like to use a phase angle ssr to control the boil and the pid to control the mash/strike temp...

    recirculating BIAB question

I plan to try recirculating using a grain bag and using some form of support under the bag.My heating is via electric 4500 watt element. my question is if I was to use a false bottom (2 mm holes 30% open perforated plate) as the support with legs to hold it above the element would this be too...
