    Cherry Extract

    I want to pep up my Irish red ale with a bit of cherry extract. Are the any suggestions as to how much and when to add. I was to give it a little Zatarain punch. This will be for a 5 gallon Irish red ale. Any suggestions would be great.

    I just purchased the Scottish ale 80 shilling and I was wondering if the grains are going to arrive pre-crushed or not? If not, best method of doing it yourself without having to buy a mill right now. Thanks.

    Belgian triple

    Question: my Belgian has been bottled and taste great however I noticed that the beer is very very clear in the bottle but once it hits the fridge, the chill haze sets in and the bottle is no longer opaque. Are there any concerns, and will this haze break at all? Thanks.

    Everybody says to don't fear the foam, but is this adequate? Just wondering. BB dunkelweizen in the secondary

    Sample testing.

    Would checking the FG be the same if you were to put the hydrometer into the initial fermenter and let it float vs. pulling a sample with the wine thief which the sample is extracted deeper into the beer. Thanks.

    Heating pad

    Just wondering if a heating pad will help kick start my dunkelweizen and tripel. They had very good fermentation for about a day the dropped out. I want to kick start these because both beer are below their FG range. Dunkelweizen is 5 days fermenting and tripel is 2 weeks in secondary.

    Belgian tripel tastes like puke

    Fellow brewers.I tasted my Belgian tripel that has been in the secondary because I didn't get an accurate reading in the initial and to me it has a sour taste. Much like a queasy stomach after a night of partying. Is this normal? It was an extract kit from BB. Will the smell die down after bottling?

    Folks, what are the star-San Do's and Dont's ? I just picked some up tonight and the instructions on the bottle are written in a font that is unreadable almost to the naked eye.

    Filtering your wort

    Question. I used a strainer during my last batch to filter all the hops n such and fermentation went well and after the secondary sat for a bit there wasn't much trub and the beer is crystal clear during bottling. Is this a secret of the trade or is this crazy. Thoughts anyone.

    I know the point if making brew is to drink it but I was wondering what the lifespan of a home brew is if not consumed quickly. Right now I have 4 cases + another 5 gallon fermenting right now. Are there any tips to prolong longevity. Thanks

    Carbonation question

    I had my first brewed batch sitting on my concrete floor next to my sump pump just in case the bottles decided to pop off, but after a week of sitting idle the average temp is 60F. I've moved the beer to a warmer spot. There isn't anything to be worried about right?

    Filling into bottles

    Question: Once I've dissolved my sugar an add it to the bottling bucket, I should not introduce much aeration correct? Also, should you give the beer a slight stir to ensure the sugars mixed?

    Filtration before bottling

    Fellow brewers Would it be advisable to filter the brew into the bottling bucket just to ensure sediment is not apparent? I have some paint filters at 5 & 25 microns. Should I sanitize the filter?
