New Danstar Belle Saison Dry Yeast?

I originally attributed the crazy fermentation to the OS of the beer I am making (1.090) and the fact I made a starter. Then I read this thread and apparently it has a reputation. Interesting it did not do this with a gluten free. I wonder why?

New Danstar Belle Saison Dry Yeast?

Northern Brewer has a new kit (Storm the Bastille - Imperial Farmhouse Ale) that used this yeast. This is my first experience with it and I can honestly say it was the most violent fermentation I have ever seen. I took the time to make a starter from 1 packet of this stuff. Pitched last Sunday...

transferred from primary to secondary after 6 weeks and fermentation started again

Same spot in the house. Temp seems fine. I just thought it odd after 6 weeks for it to start back up... And continue bubbling now for an additional 5 days so far. I have a hydrometer. I will just check it. Thanks.

transferred from primary to secondary after 6 weeks and fermentation started again

is this normal? plinian legacy kit from NB - 1.070 OG...1.5 packets of US05. just seems odd that it would kick back up after so much time. airlock bubbling about every 10 seconds. second dry hop is due today and according to time table its supposed to go into the keg next week. should i...

    First partial mash...missed on the O.G. by a bit...why?

temp of wort at reading was 75 degrees. i added .002 to compensate. hydro said 1.050. i did top to slightly more than 5 gallons by just over a quart. that doesn't seem like enough to drop it by .009 though. the lme did give me some problems when i was putting it in as i poured it straight from...

    First partial mash...missed on the O.G. by a bit...why?

Did Dry Dock Urca Vanilla Porter pro series partial mash kit from northern brewer today. I followed the instructions almost too a "T" but my O.G. came up short. It was supposed to be 1.061 and i came out with 1.052. I know this will yield a lower ABV beer but i figure it will still taste...

My first 5 gallon batch - almost 3 weeks in primary and gravity seems off

yeah it has the chips. so when i bought the kit at my LHBS the guy there who has been doing this forever asked me if i liked more aroma/flavor over bitterness - to which i replied that i did...so he suggested leaving the oak out and adding some cascades to the boil for the last 5 minutes - which...

My first 5 gallon batch - almost 3 weeks in primary and gravity seems off

I drank my sample - it tastes good. Like a rather mild IPA...nice, but probably not hoppy enough for me overall (this is a characteristic of this kit i am reading), but definitely good. Wort was around 80 degrees when i took my OG, but i accounted for that with my scale included in the...

My first 5 gallon batch - almost 3 weeks in primary and gravity seems off

So I put my first 5 gallon batch in primary almost 3 weeks ago. It is a True Brew IPA and the instruction kit listed OG as 1.052 - which the wort matched that when pitched, and the instructions said FG should be 1.012-1.014. I pulled a sample last night to check gravity since I was planning on...

What does a "green" beer taste lie?
