    220,000 btu worth the upgrade?

I do 5 gallon batches. Ive been debating if upgrading from my 62,000 btu burner to a bayou 220,000btu would be of much help. It would get me to boil faster i guess. But would that save me gas? Im filling my tank every 3-4 brews with my 62,000.

    HLT sizing question.

i do have a 7.5gallon pot and another burner i could setup.... would save me getting a pump actually too. Not sure what way to go now.. lol i guess it gives me more options to have a fired HLT.

    HLT sizing question.

As I progress in my brewing endeavors ive contemplated buying a dedicated HLT cooler. Currently im using a wheeled cooler that i use for other stuff but was looking at the 5 gallon coolers at home depot this weekend. Currently im mashing in a 10 gallon igloo cooler with false bottom and boiling...

    Hespeler Ontario

Any brewers in hespeler? Would be cool to find a couple brew buddys close to home to share notes and brews with. In the Fisher Mills area if that helps.

So I tried to drink a Coors light today.

A buddy of mine who loves good craft beer and drinks the hell out of my homebrew when hes over is still a coors light drinker. He has been for ever. I dont mind it ( drank enough of his over the years) He has no clue why but its always his sandby. I dont judge the beer drinker for what he drinks...

Second all grain BIAB and new issues.

At first i thought my boil off was wrong, although it worked for a 60 min extract boil 2 weeks ago. This one was a 90 min boil. Once i topped off the fermenter with water it brought the wort to a lower value than it would have been had it just been boil off being wrong... Or am i missing...

Second all grain BIAB and new issues.

On my first Biab i used a default beersmith equipment profile and screwed up figuring it would be close enough. Today i figured i was all set but again had issues. Heres how it went. I set up a profile for my equipment as close as i can figure. I inputted the recipe into beersmith and it seemed...

Who is NOT going out for St. Pats day?

The food and brew dont get any better than here at home in my opinion! Duck confit double baked garlic bacon potatoes and 5 kinds of homebrew are enough for me and the fam! :mug: Cheers

First all grain and lessons learned...

One thing that i found today was it surprised me how much heat my pot lost in the hour. My strike water was 1 deg high at 163 and my mash was also 1 deg high at 157 but after the hour it was 150... I wrapped it in blankets but i guess BIAB isnt the best in winter...

First all grain and lessons learned...

Had a fun day and made beer. Didnt exactly go to plan but that part of learning i guess. Things i learned 1. Setup your actual equipment in beersmith dont take something that looks close. 2. Have fermentables on hand incase. 3. water is heavy! I plugged a recipe for a kit i got into...

    Bananas in my tripel!!

Ok so i had a brewers best belgian tripel that was stuck at 1.030 and at the advice of the lhbs i raised temp to high 70s to try to get it to come down. Its been in secondary 2 weeks now and is nice and clear but the bananas are strong. i know this is from raising the temp. Will this mellow if i...

    Boring red ale, add oak?

I know the best thing i should do is just wait and try it once its done then maybe oak a batch of the same later on... I guess im just eager to do something to a batch. This weekend i will be able to brew a batch so i wont be as bored.
