    Question about very bitter IPA

It will turn out great. Give it a couple weeks. In my experience, lots of dry hopping w pellets creates some "dust" that need to settle out. Geletain may help, but who wants that in a hazy ipa. Give it some time and you'll be left with nothing but hazy goodness

    WY1318 Questions

Some hop matter still makes it through, but bags do a good job containing most of it. Don't be concerned... that looks like a typical biab beer.

Pitched Yeast too Hot! next step?

I think your beer will be just fine, especially since you knocked the temps down right after realizing you pitched hot. Yeast love 100 degree temps!

    WY1318 Questions

A little of everything. Hot/cold break, particles from your grain thay werent converted to sugar, much of the hops will still make it through as well. That's typical of a well hopped beer.

NEIPA w/ 1318 pitched yesterday; I'm leaving for 3 weeks; dry hop schedule?

Sure thing. I've done a similar schedule many times with great results. Have a good trip.

    WY1318 for 10% RIS

A healthy pitch should get it done, but I'd sprinkle a little champagne yeast in your bottle bucket

NEIPA w/ 1318 pitched yesterday; I'm leaving for 3 weeks; dry hop schedule?

I'd put half of your dry hops in now. If bottling, put the other half in when you come back and bottle 2 days later. If kegging, keg hop w the rest. 3 weeks at 60 to 65 will be fine.

    WY1318 Questions

It's an infection somewhere. They will dull and blah hop flavor and aroma as you described. Could be your ic or kettle valve but i doubt it? Likely starter or transfer equipment, valves, tubing, keg posts? A friend had a recurring infection that had to do with a valve on his conical...

What I did for beer today

Brewing a wet hopped rye ipa as we speak. Filled up a 6.5 gal fermenter bucket from the top 10 feet of one cascade plant. A third will go into my brew, the rest will get dried for keg hopping a few beers. For me, I get roughly 6 oz for every 2 liters of wet hops which yields approx an ounce...

    Yeast blow up.

No harm there, don't bother transferring. I've done worse w no issues. Beer should be fine, pitch at will!

    Cereal Killer issues

Been having some issues with my grain mill over the last year. Probably did 75 or so batches and it performed great, now I'm having to set the gap wide and double crush for my grain to feed. Cleaning the rollers doesn't seem to help the issue. Anyone have a number or website for them? The...

    Got a water report

Thanks... other than assuming i had a decent amount of carbonate in my water and diluting a few beers in the past I've never touched my water. Always been pleased. I'd like to try diluting my water to get in the "proper" range for a few pale beers now that I've had 100 plus brew days under my...

    Got a water report

From 1999. Lol. So I got the latest water report from my borough. The most recent of 7 wells drilled into the same aquifer that feeds my water supply. It doesn’t have as much as I’d have liked, but it does have some info I can use. I wasn’t looking to get exact numbers, as they probably...

    Water chemistry math

Yes, your minerals will concentrate by approx 15 percent depending on how much water you boil off. Your target water profiles are based on the water into your brew system. Your water profile plays a big part on how it affects the mash.
