What is your home brewery's name?

Burnt Lava Brewing Named after a large lava flow in northern California. I spent many days deer hunting there as a kid growing up with the family. As I became of adult age, I continued the family tradition of camping and hunting in the area. Seems like a catchy name, but that’s just me:cool:

    Brew Day Injuries

While I was brewing my last batch a couple of weeks ago, I was going about my day and keeping my poop in a pile, as they say, and went to lift one of my containers of water to fill the HLT. This was a 7 gallon water jug, so figure 56+ lbs. When I lifted the jug from the floor, I twisted and...

Belgian ale, I'm trying and failing.. but now?

I’ve brewed a recipe twice that emulates Brother Thelonius. I used Wyeast Labs 3787 Trappist High Gravity yeast. I started the yeast in two steps to build the cell count. Mashed @ 148 for 75 minutes and kept the mash ph a little higher than I normally would (about 5.8 - 6.2). Fermented @ 67F for...

I agree, and they continue to make great brews. I’ve always been a fan of their Torpedo.

Resurgence in homebrewing due to current events?

Between the 4 varieties I purchased, the average price was $2.65/lb. I brewed this same recipe 2 years ago and it was half the price then. FWIW, the ingredients came from MoreBeer. I priced compared the recipe with three other vendors and MoreBeer was the best deal. I would buy in bulk, but lack...

Resurgence in homebrewing due to current events?

I only purchased a couple of lbs of DME for my yeast starters. Total of 40 lbs of grains, some hops, belgian candi syrup, and a couple of spices and the checkout was $190.00. Free shipping with purchases over $50.00, so no issue there and no bottling/canning supplies. I keg everything.

Resurgence in homebrewing due to current events?

Prices in our neck of the woods haven’t increased much (yet) for commercial brews. Still paying 9-11 bucks for some Sierra Nevada brews and a little cheaper for some local stuff (Sockeye, Payette, and others). I did, however just purchase ingredients to brew 10 gallons of an Abbey Dubbel and...
