Ya I'm pretty happy I went with the freezer. I'm super happy with the amount of space in mine. Lots of stores trying to get rid of Christmas stock now too.

I just got my first fermentation chamber set up today. I found a 7.2ft3 chest freezer that fits two 6.5gal fermenting buckets side by side. No customization needed. The footprint is comparable to most of the 5.5ft3 freezers they had as well. It's a Frigidaire FFFC07M1TW...

Ya this looked pretty nasty. There was a grey film on top of my hot break. And dark gunk on the sides of the pot. The wort is pretty discoloured. Just wondering if it's worth fermenting...

Thanks for the responses guys! She did a great job getting things back together. I opted for a blowoff tube and things settled down. I really don't think it was too hot as I pitched at about 65F and had the bucket in a pot of cold water with a bit of ice.
