A local brewery went out of business recently and I bought some grains at the auction. (It was online so I purchased them without knowing the type). Anyway, I'm putting them to use today with a recipe I made up with what I have and wanted to know if this would fall into any particular style of...
I usually make my starters the day before I brew with yeast I've washed from previous batches. However, sometimes I forget, so I make the starter in the morning before I start brewing on brew day which means it sits for 4-5 hours before I pitch. Is this a waste of time or is it still helpful...
Just wanted to share with everyone here that I bought a couple brew bags from Wilserbrewer from here on the forums and did my first brew this past weekend. I am extremely happy with my purchase! The bags are very well built and seem to have this texture which keeps the grains from sticking to...
Well, my FG came out to 1.020 but I'm going to keg it anyway. Should be ready in time for the Superbowl which was my goal. I'll let you know how it came out.
Thanks. I was brewing it the day I asked the question, so I mashed at 154 and put the lactose in at 30 minutes. I'll keg it next weekend, since that will be 3 weeks in the fermentor. Looking forward to it!

I normally keg my beer, but will still bottle every once in awhile. I bottled a batch on Father's Day only to realize I had no priming sugar. Went to LHBS only to find it closed for Father's Day. Came back home and realized I had a bag of Munton's carbonating tabs in my fridge. I...
Wow....I can't believe this thread has been going for 7 years! I brewed a batch this weekend based on the original recipe in this thread. (I couldn't read through 100 pages) It is fermenting now, but smelled wonderful before I put the lid on the fermenting bucket. I tried brewing another Blue...
