I used the milk crate last night with 5.5 gallons in the fermonster. Worked great.
By the way, I really like the fermonster. My buckets will be gathering dust unless I need additional fermenter space.
Hey, thanks for the input. I also ran across a homemade wooden crate design, which would offer a bit better support than my milk crate (crate is too wide). It uses 1x4's and 2x2s on the corners. At a minimum, I think I'll use the milk crate.
I just purchased a 7 gallon fermonster (http://thevintageshop.ca/products/fermonster.html) and am excited to use it for the first time.
Given the relatively thin plastic construction, I plan to move it when full with a milk crate, similar to my glass carboys. I'm wondering if anyone does...

I am pleased to hear the flavor profile is good. Might be what I am needing for a dark mild or brown ale.
With regard to FG, I think the number colors our perceptions as a homebrewer too much (i.e., It finished at 1.020, this is going to be too sweet), rather than using taste as a guide. For...
I unsubscribed from both MW and NB email lists the other day, offering "AB-Inbev Ownership" as my reason for unsubscribing. I figure a person ought to let them know where they went wrong.
I too have a been thinking of oxidation, after a recent IPA went downhill early.
My proposed process is a hybrid of what I have read:
1. Ferment in bucket. Connect hose from fermenter (in place of airlock) onto liquid out side of keg. Connect airlock to gas (in) side of keg. Goal is to...
