Looking to get back into homebrewing... any ~2gal BIAB (or similar) automated brewing setups out there?

Thank you! I will look into that. [edit] Yeah this looks like exactly what I need. It even has a switch for 120/240v when I eventually upgrade the power in my garage. Thanks again! Pretty affordable too.

Looking to get back into homebrewing... any ~2gal BIAB (or similar) automated brewing setups out there?

Hi all, it's been awhile since I stopped brewing but I'm really missing it and would like to get into it again. The main reason why I quit was because I was just unable to finish 5 gallons of beer before the said beer started to get stale. Pouring half a corny keg down the gutter felt like a big...

    March pump max run time

I've recently got into sous vide cooking with my direct fired rims system. I can't believe I've never thought of it before because it's great I just use a false bottom to keep the bag off the bottom... It'd work better with a herms or rims tube.. but it's still awesome. Anyway, I'm thinking of...

Looking for BIAB mesh basket/kettle combos for recirculating mash

Hello all, I am looking for high quality mesh basket/kettle combos for a BIAB system. Right now I used a keggle with a direct fire, temperature controlled system (using a honeywell water tank heater solenoid). The only one I have found so far is this...

First lager, from 1.050 to 1.020 6 days later, is this normal?

Hi all. I brewed a 100% pilsner lager (2 oz saaz hops) with a starting gravity of 1.059 using WLP 830 (German lager yeast). Been fermenting at 50 f. That was 6 days ago (last Sunday). Gravity is at 1.020 now, but I'm not seeing any more bubbles in the airlock so I'm worried that fermentation has...

How to cut top completely away from keggle without a torch/plasma cutter

I want to remove it so I can better fit a biab basket or if I decide to stick with bags, the bags won’t tear on the lip that remains on the keggle. However after looking at prices for a custom made keggle sized biab ss basket, id probably save money by getting an off the shelf kettle/biab...

How to cut top completely away from keggle without a torch/plasma cutter

Anyone else think kegs make bad kettles? I’ve had this thing since 2011 and I never even thought of it.

How to cut top completely away from keggle without a torch/plasma cutter

Any ideas on how to remove this extra metal from the top of my keggle? I only have an angle grinder

    “Reasonable” equipment (total) loss

Whoa. I didn’t even think of that. I know the oil in my deep fryer swells up when it gets hot so I always have to make sure there is a gap between the oil and fry basket when the oil is cold. I didn’t even think about wort doing that!!! Thanks!

    Another Efficiency Issue...

Sigh, I wish I could get those numbers. I recently did a recirculating fly sparge and got 78% which is the best I've ever had... except the first time I did BIAB. I got 85%. Then 65-67% for the next 5 something years.

    “Reasonable” equipment (total) loss

I can't believe I didn't think of that. Just dump in some fresh water and pinch off the outflow into the kettle when the water starts coming out. Hah!

March pump crapping out when pushing wort through fly sparge manifold

Oh right, I remember the LODO thing. Yeah I'm one of those guys that doesn't really like brewing as much as drinking, so just the idea of getting that into the weeds with it gives me a headache. But yeah, I mean crap out as in the flow just peters out, not that the pump seizes. To be honest I...

    Another Efficiency Issue...

Hey, I used BIAB for 5 years and I always got about 67%. I got that when I lived in the UK with Lincolnshire water, and I got the same crappy figure when I moved to the suburbs of D.C. and used Potomac-sourced water. Bad efficiency is a problem a lot of people experience with BIAB. It's way...

    Potential infections from BIAB

I don't know why, but sometimes this happens. I really would not worry about it unless it happens over and over again. I've been brewing for 9 years and this happened to me perhaps 2-3 times. One time I remember I was particularly lazy and neglected to rinse and sanitize my fermenter after using...
