I’ve been pretty busy with work lately so I haven’t done a whole lot of batches since I had replaced the orings. I have been a little more cautious about my starsan mixing ratio and haven’t had any more issues since
Fair enough, that’s pretty much always the case, gotta pay to play!
Being new to the hobby I still don’t think you get better bang for your buck as far as an entry level AIO. If I weren’t new to the hobby or if/when this one bites the dust I would have spent the extra
Awesome! Yes that must be a new ‘feature’ as my foundry that I had bought in the spring doesn’t have the 4 screws like that.
I’ve been mindful of getting any liquid on it. I have had a few oops moments and boiled over, but it hasn’t caused any issues with it yet!
So I emailed blichmann to see what they thought and they figure it is from the star San. Possibly too strong of a mix, maybe I f’d up but I thought I was pretty close on my mix
The orings are silicone and they sell the replacements. I might just order up some new ones rather than mess around...
Yea I’m not sure what to think as I’ve never seen an oring deteriorate that bad in such a short amount of time. The one in the racking valve seems odd that it would be the cleaners doing it, if any residual got stuck there both orings would have been in contact with it not just the stem oring...
I’m new to all this wonderful stuff and maybe it’s something I’m not doing right but has anyone else had issues with the orings that come with their fermenator cracking up?
Second time cleaning thing up I noticed one of the orings on the spunding valve starting to crack. Now on this last...
Yes it should have been fully up to room temp, it had been out of the fridge since I was prepping for the brew. Same process I do with the 840 and that works fine
It’s definitely not scientific but my first batch was around 67% efficiency, since then I’ve been doing the “lift the basket a few times” trick and efficiency has been around 75% since
Maybe it was just a fluke on my first batch but it definitely isn’t hurting anything that I can tell. It...
Old thread I know but I have experienced the exact same thing with wlp800!
I’m pretty new to the whole game, I’m on batch 5 now. My first 4 were wlp840 pressure fermented at room temp and within 24h I saw activity on the blow off hose. My og was slightly higher on this one (1.060 vs 1.055)...
I have been scouting out new units and yes there are some fairly cheap ones out there but they really don’t have the best reviews, lots of failures within a year it seems
Unfortunately the local store doesn’t stock anything and they don’t have anything available other than the more expensive...
Yea that’s why I haven’t been getting too excited about buying one yet, if I can make something half decent for now I will wait for the right deal. It’s hard to justify hacking up a fridge or freezer that’s worth that much
