Hey guys and gals, my name is Heath, and I just picked up my kit to start brewing today. Glad to be on board, hope this hobby works out for me as it seems incredibly fun and interesting.

A quick question though, if someone reads this. My kit included a hydrometer, but for the life of me, I don't even see where to read it, let alone how...The sticker with the markings goes all the way around the tube, and despite following the instructions, I just don't get any reading whatsoever!

You have more than likely a triple scale hydrometer, but we only use the specifig gravity side, that BK shows in her post.

This is a good basic video on using one.
