First time trying to wash yeast. I made one batch using this yeast and then repitched in the yeast cake. Poured the slurry into 3 jars and chilled to let them separate into the 3 layers. However I seem to just have a dark layer and beer. Is this yeast tough to separate and reuse in this manner?

so you just bottled the slurry? if that's the case you will want to use it fairly soon. washing yeast removes some of the heavy sediment (proteins, hops, ect). it will keep longer if washed
