It's hard for me to get anything but Nottingham where I live. I love Belgians and plan on purchasing some Wyeast Trappist High Gravity 3787.

Does this make sense? Or is there a better way?

1. Make a appropriate starter with the original pack and brew a small beer ~5% Beer "A"

2. Wash the yeast from beer "A" and store in the fridge.

3. Use one container of washed yeast with an appropriate starter to make another small beer ~5% Beer "B"

4. Brew a monster of a beer and pitch on beer "B"s yeast cake.

5. Still have ~4 jars of Wyeast Trappist High Gravity 3787 in the fridge for future use and dump the stressed out yeast from the big beer.

6. How many generations can I reuse this particular yeast from Beer "A"?

Cheers

5-10 generations, generally. If you're diligent about sanitation storage, one smack pack will last a very long time.
