Hi gang.

*phew* Good beer is getting expensive and cheap beer stays the same price but tastes worse all the time  Where to go eh? Hmm... where to go with this? Making my own looks pretty good and apparently smells great too.

Anyhoo, I'm off to purchase a few goodies today to get me on a roll. The only gear I've right now are lots of five gallon pails and a bottle capper:lol: My place is pretty warm in some parts (85-90) and cool in others (50-75). The space in the warm area is limited and can only be used for a few days at a time.

TTY all in a bit;)

Now *that's* a funny name...kind of a surfer/smoker theme ;)

What part of California is "socialist cesspool in"? ;)

Welcome to the forum! Glad you found us!

Beware of brewing to save money...eventually, you'll get there, but brewing ends up being an obsession for many of us and we're constantly throwing money at it. Still, it's one of my favorite things to do, and you can't beat the results! Cheers! :D

Good to have you with us. I think there are some threads out there about equipment, and you might want to take that link at the top of the page entitled FAQ, as I posted a response to the question "What do I need to buy to start brewing?" It is certainly not the last word on brewing equipment, but it gives some basic guidelines for getting started. Good luck, and have fun browsing these forums, and exploring the endless possibilities presented by homebrewing. :D

D-brewmeister and Janx thanks for the all aboard guys.

lol. I'm in Canada. Beurocracy and special interest groups rob our rich country of incentive, ambition and development:sigh: Unless our gov't can govern, we'll be a 3rd world country in ~20 yrs. Some argue that we're there already. I think so.

Yes. I have an indoor garden;) Tofino rocks for surf. Head to the westcoast of Van Island in November if you wanna ride hard.

lol Yeah bud. Growing my own is cheaper than buying but the hobby does become an expense. Sure is fun though :D

Yeah with 4 ingredients you sure can make lots of beer. I've been surfing the board for a bit and found lots of helpful info. Ain't the iNet grand?!?

Well I told my buddy I was gonna brew a bit and he gave me a can of Cooper's Lager. Word is it isn't the best but for my first batch I'll be pleased with any result. I am a brewbie after all . After the donation of an extract I procured a slick little hydrometer, 3lb of dextrose and a vapourlock. (<-- the lot only set me back 10 bones!) Apparently my vapourlock isn't needed until a seconday fermentation but I bought it now anyways;)

Hmm... what else to say? Lager dominate an ale. Go lagers go!

oh baby. I mixed up the first batch yesterday morning and now it's mad with lots of small bubbles:D It seemed slow until late last night and then it really began to pick up. Smells great too. Just wanted to share the excitement.
