I did here in NY. They grew like crazy, very quickly and aggressive with tons of nice cones and then suddenly most cones got brown and quickly died. Not sure what happened since I've been transplanting rhizomes from other varieties for 6 yrs now with virtually no issues. Go for it.
What I WOULD say is on your 2nd season or even first year if they produce nice cones, to send out sample for testing to see if its something you want to keep around or in more numbers.
And harvest your rhizomes soon as the snow melts or if you don't get snow, then March-April maybe. Good luck.
