I wanted to be able to estimate how much beer was in my BB so I know how much priming sugar to mix up. I know I could transfer to the bottling bucket first and then add the sugar - but I don't like the idea of stirring.

I filled my spare BB with water 1 gallon at a time, and the measured the distance from the bottom of the bottle to the water level. When I was almost done I had the idea that it would have been better to go in half gallon increments (hence the 4.5).

Thought I'd share in case it helps anyone else. My measuring (water and/or tape measure) is not 100% precise, so this will just be an estimate. If anyone else wants to do it to check my numbers, or fill in the missing half gallon increments, feel free to post and I'll update the list. I measured in cm because it was simpler

1 Gallon: 9 cm
2 Gallons: 15 cm
3 Gallons: 22 cm
4 Gallons: 28.5 cm
4.5 Gallons: 32 cm
5 Gallons: 35.5 cm
