those of us using a ginger beer plant (GBP) to make traditional ginger beer, have you ever make fruit water keffir, since the gbp is water keffir grains by another name, when you are between ginger beer batches try a refreshing water keffir. they are amazingly simple, tasty and refreshing, like flavored fizzy water but way better. here is one i just made:
1 plum, chopped coarsely (or any other fruit!!)
1 slice lemon
1 or 2 sprigs of mint, slightly perturbed / battered / bothered. chafed
1 tablespoon sugar (more if you want it sweet)
about 1 liter water
gbp
mix all together and leave overnight. pick out the fruit from the gbp (that's why you leave the chunks big) and eat it (thr fruit, that is) or use it in a fruit salad, strain off gbp and bottle the water, carbs nicely overnight.
drink this chilled or use it in a cocktail- add skeeter pee or mix with fruit juice
