I did my first vanilla stout with cut and scraped vanilla beans soaked i vodka. I also got my first brett inrfection ( a thin powdery white film formed on top of the fermenter) I am diagnosing it based on photos posted on other threads here. Is it possible to carry a brett infection from vanilla beans soaked in vodka, or is it just conicidence? None of my sanitization practices have changed.

I just bottled my Vanilla Imperial porter 9 days ago and did not have any contamination. I did not even soak my vanilla beans before. It might be bad luck :(

brett is not the only organism that will form a pellicle so it could be something else. i brew with brett quite a bit, sometimes it does not form a pellicle at all, sometimes it's bubbly, sometimes it's flat and powdery.
