My only thought is be sure the stir bar is centered on the magnet before you turn it on. So, it it's on the side of the flask, you may need to drag the bottom of the flask along the plate to let the magnet grip it first and get it in place.
 
My bet is the e-flask bottom is concave (or very thick) putting the elevation of the magnet too far above the motor to stay locked.
Try a smaller bar - 3/4" would be plenty for such a small flask...

A lot of the cheaper flasks have inconsistent coned bottoms. I have a Chinese 5l flask that needs to be perfectly placed in order to spin.

As the poster said above try a smaller stir bar. Smaller bar less wobble less likely to get tossed.
