I have a few kegs laying around and was thinking of making a HLT with a center pickup and a Boil kettle with a side pickup...
However, I don't really want to spend the money on two different setups since one has been working for me.

The pickups would just make things a little easier, is there a way to have an adjustable tube? I don't think I would want to be constantly changing them out when things are still hot

Compression fitting. Pickup tube pointed down towards the center during sparge water heating. Collect your runnings in a bucket. Back off the compression nut about 1/4 turn, you should be able to turn your pickup tube to the side (going the same way you turned the nut), to about a 45 degree angle. retighten nut. And " POW " , brew kettle. Dump runnings in and continue brewing.
