Wanted to do a trial run with the stir plate i built. Its been on the stir plate for about 18 hours so I think its about ready. How long is a starter viable for if I put it in the fridge and let the yeast fall out? Give it a day and pour out the excess wort? Or just leave it?

Cold crashing in the fridge for a day is fine and dandy, so is throwing the whole thing in (if its under 2liters or so).

Check out beer geek nation on youtube. I think harvesting yeast would be the title. I think the guy said. Yeast will stay for up to 6 months.

Are you like leaving the entire starter after you make or decanting it then adding the slurry when you brew?

Thanks guys. In the fridge now so we will see how it does this weekend.
