Hi everyone,

I just bottled a batch of a light blonde ale from a recipe kit I bought. The kit included a 5 ounce bag of priming sugar however the recipe only called for 2/3 Cup (which I used a bit less than that because the batch was around four and a half gallons at the end).

How many cups are in the five ounce bag?

I think 5 oz usually comes to roughly 3/4 of a cup but it really depends on how packed the sugar is... Measurements of sugar by volume are much less consistent than measurements by weight because it is difficult to account for the air space in the sugar. I usually use 1 oz per gallon for a regular beer as a general rule of thumb.

Edit: I'm talking about corn sugar in this case, not table sugar or DME or whatever else you may use
