I am brewing an IPA clone and the recipe uses DME. I prefer LME. What kind of LME would be appropriate? Golden light?

For light DME, the closest replacement is pale LME.

You need more LME for the same amount of DME, though. Generally, multiply the amount of DME by 1.25 to get the correct amount of LME to sub for it.

For example, for 6 pounds of light DME, you'd need 7.5 pounds of pale LME.

Thank you. I get my extract from a brew shop in bulk, not cans. I ended up asking an employee at the shop and decided to get a LME close to the same lovibond as what the all-grain base was, but doing the conversion for DME to LME. I brewed it last night with a light Pilsen LME and my OG was lower than expected. May need to shoot for a little over 1.2X the amount DME next time.
