reusing hops

So, this might sound crazy but...

I dry hopped a beer, THEN realised the beer was infected. Could I reuse those dry hops for bittering with an hour boil, or is that completely stupid?

The dryhopping would release the hops out of the hops, so they would be spent.

Yes. They would be in the hops oils that are IN the beer. They won't just stay in the hops, otherwise there would be no point in dryhopping at all.
