I found that book a little too simplistic for me. Charlie always seemed to be a little short on the theory of beer making and a little long on the, "Relax, don't worry, and have a homebrew". I prefer John Palmer's, "How to Brew" much better.

It was a different book for a different time.

I agree with you; in fact The Complete Joy is so silly that I found it hard to read at points.

But on the other hand, How to Brew may never have been written if The Complete Joy had not been written before it.

Just my humble opinion. :mug:
 
I have both. Comparing them as well. Didn't mean to compare them. Just kind of happining by reading both.
