Using faucet plastic shank nuts on cooler/mash tun convertion

I have a question guys, Do you think is safe to use this plastic nut inside the cooler instead of a stainless steel washer that I can't find anywhere. It fits the original rubber seal from the cooler perfect and it makes it really strong, It's made of plastic but so is the cooler, I think it can tolerate the hot water. My concern would be if it's food safe. any opinions on this? Thanks.

I use a similar plastic nut. The one that I use is white and I have been using it for years without issue.

I can't see any problem with that in a MLT.
