First Broken Hydrometer

Finally decided to brew a cider for SWMBO. Used a tweaked recipe of the Caramel Apple Hard Cider going around on the forum. ITs around the 2 week barrier and decided to take a gravity reading to see if it was ready to bottle. Well i always take a glass with me to taste what I pull out with the wine thief. I set the glass down and had the GENIUS idea of setting my hydrometer into the glass.

The second it hit the bottom.....F*%K!!!!!

The tip end of my hydrometer shattered. RIP Hydrometer. :smack:

First hydrometer down and i'm sure, many more to go.

2 years and still on my first one. Shouldn't be thought, dropped my hydrometer test jar with hydrometer in it, broke the test jar but hydrometer lived. on a separate occasion grabbed the sleeve the hydrometer comes in and the end plug wasn't in it shooting the hydrometer half way across the room bouncing of my weight set. it must have 9 lives.
