Hey Everyone,

This may be a dumb question but I thought I would as anyway. I am making a Lager, when I make my starter is it OK to make it at room temp?

Never heard of people doing low temp starters for lagers. Seems like you want yeast growth for flavor development later in the process.

The point to a starter is to make more yeast cells. The point to making a lager is to make a clean tasting beer. Yeast propagate much faster in warm temps so you make the starter warm, then decant off the bad tasting beer and save the much bigger amount of yeast to pitch into the lager.
