I had to recently have the bottom of a keggle welded because it had a pressure relief valve stamped on the bottom of it. It got me thinking.

I am a backpacker, and I have done a bit of research on stove efficiency. I am aware electric is the way to go if you want to get down to the dirty details of efficiency.

I am not quite there yet, and figured this might be a fun discussion. I could not find anything on it with a quick search.

Has anyone ever thought about welding some fins to the bottom of a keggle to soak up and retain some of the heat that passes over the bottom and up around the base when it is being heated with a burner?
