7 gallon bucket primary

Is a 7 gallon bucket too large to primary in without going to a secondary? I don't use a secondary unless Iam using fruit or something long that nature. It just occurred to me that using a smaller primary, around 5 gallons would be a better idea.
 
I don't see any reason why, I am assuming you are doing 5 gallon batches? I use 7.5 gallon bucket fermenters for all my brews (5 gal batches). Even then, I still get krausen blowing out an airlock everyone once in awhile.
