HI all -

I bought an IPA kit from my local supply store. Reading through the directions it only called for a boil after steeping the grains. Once it reached boil the recipe called to lower the temp down to 180 and have the hops, DME and LME all cook for the normal 45 minutes. Every beer I've ever made required a boil during that normal 45 minute span. I called the store and they confirmed instructions. Is this normal?

thanks so much for any feedback!

Never heard of that. In fact, I thought you had to be boiling or close to get the hops to do what you want.

On the other hand, I HAVE been wrong before...

Seems a little strange. But if that is what the instructions said and the company confirmed them, go with it.
