Looking for suggestions on which hops, and at what schedule, for an imperial porter. It will be in the 1.080 starting gravity range.

The recipe I have suggests Phoenix @ 90 minutes and First Gold @ 30 minutes. Maybe a decent substitute?

What does the recipe look like? Porters come in lots of different flavors! :D

Off the cuff, I wonder if Nugget & Willamette would do the trick? I like the earthiness and herbal character with a dark malty porter!

I did this for my recent Imperial Porter/Stout -

11# Maris Otter
1# Chocolate Malt
1# Brown Malt
1# Crystal 40
1# Organic Munich
1# Flaked Barley
8 oz. Black Patent
8 oz. Roasted Barley
8 oz. Crystal 120
8 oz. cara-Pils

1 oz Northern Brewer - 60 min
.5 oz cascade - 60 min
.5 oz cascade - 30 min
.75 oz Willamette - 20 min
.25 oz Willamette - 1 min

Have you ever used Dingemans de-bittered black? I used it instead of black patten on my last porter, and it's amazing, try it
