I like this idea:
Sadly, I do not live in SoCal so I would not have a comparison. But, I appreciate when commercial brewers do things like this (another example).

Does anyone else find it wierd that Balast Point is suggesting a 20 minute mash? I have done a few before, but I am not sure it would be a recommendation for a printed recipe.

A lot of professional breweries recipes say do a 20 minute mash. But, I'm with you...I'll just keep on doing my 60 minute minimum. Maybe it's overkill, but it works for me.

Guess I don't look at published recipes much anymore. I often do a 30-40 minute mash since that is about how long it takes for my sparge water to get to temp.

Im having this beer now (Home Brew Mart The Homework Series Batch no 1 Hoppy Red Ale by Ballast Point) and was going to start a thread about this too!
A 20 minute mash?
Also recipe is on the back of bottle.
