hi in Glen from Norwich, England

I've done a couple of brews in the past and had mixed results.

I'm hoping to get good at this.
My first basic question is this, when transferring my brew from fermenter to keg/bottles. Adding the sugar, is it best to use brewing sugar or normal caster sugar

I went with brewing sugar. I read a few posts that said to dissolve it in boiling water before adding so I tried that method. Can't wait to see how this one comes out

That's fine--and the best way to mix it is to add that sugar water to the bottling bucket, then add the beer to it, so it's all well-mixed.

Welcome to HBT and enjoy the journey!

Welcome! Yes, make sure the sugar is well dissolved, you don't want any clumps of sugar ending up in individual bottles!
