I've read a bunch of articles on the topic but I'm missing some finer details. Mostly, how do you adjust the flame? Do I install an adjustable regulator on the new flexible gas line? See plan below with question marks where I'm unsure.

My plan:
  1. T off Black pipe in the basement
  2. Add Shutoff close to T on the new pipe run
  3. Run new 1/2" black pipe line to the exterior wall
  4. Add T and drip tube
  5. 90 degree then thru the exterior wall under my deck
  6. Shut Off valve
  7. Female Quick connect
  8. Male Quick Connect and flexible tubing (something like THIS ?? )
  9. Adjustable Regulator (?? something like THIS) ??)
  10. More tubing (??)
  11. Connection to Burner (Quick Connect if possible).

Or do I simply use a gas shut off valve at the burner to control the flame?

The Blichmann has something like this:

We have a 100 gallon tank supplying propane to a converted natural gas laundry dryer, and there is a ~1/2 psi high volume regulator at the tank.

If your installation is similar you can tee off to your pipe run terminating in an appropriate shut-off valve.
From there you can use NG barbecue/grill hose to a female gas disconnect that you can plug onto your rig.
Use a valve in front of the burner to control volume, no regulator required (and none would work, anyway)...

Cheers!
