With either one, expect nothing the first year and then be delightfully surprised with anything you get. After that, you should see more and more until they mature in year 3 or 4.

Any cones is a bonus. Just remember that you're planting a perennial for the long-term. A year or two down the road - you'll hopefully have lots of cones.
