Growing hops in my allotment for brewing

I am in the UK, do I go for dwarf hops? I will use a trellis system with wooden post up to 2.5m high.

I have normal hops seeds but getting worries it will grow to wild.

Advise please.

Hi welcome to hbt. I also grow hops in my allotment

You can use dwarf ones if you want, i just grow full ones along a fence (centennial and hallertau mittelfruh). They only go 2m high.

Dont use seeds, you won't know what you end up with unless you want to try it out. There are many threads on the forum for this.

Go to willingham nurseries or a-plus hops for rhizomes or plants/cuttings.

You can limit them a bit by planting in a large pot with the base cut out or growing in huge pots. Check with your allotment to see if they are banned, they might be.
