I am wondering if ageing beer in the bottle is the same as ageing it in a carboy. Are the benifits the same? I need to free up my three carboys. I have imp blonde ale, russian imp stout, and an extract dopplebock....

Yup, bulk aging in a carboy is practically the same as aging in a bottle. There are some very very slight differences, due to headspace (higher % of headspace in a bottle) and the fact that you are typically under pressure and carbonating/carbonated in a bottle, but overall, a bottle is a small carboy :)

There are some that hold that bulk aging is faster and more uniform. I do recall reading posts where people split the batches and fine either no difference or that bulk aging is quicker.
