I want to make a 3L starter.
I have good washed yeast that I have used several times. This yeast is almost a year old but I used some of it a month ago so I know its still viable.

I previously just dumped 2 - 1/2 pint yeast cakes into a 4L flask on top of some DME making a 2L starter as according to the video on Billy Brew.

The question is do I just adjust the DME to 300 grams for a 3L starter or do I step it up?

I always stick with the 100 g per 1000 ml ratio. Which roughly yields 1.040 wort regardless of overall volume.
Can you re-wash the yeast from the most recent batch you pitched 1 month ago? You might get more viability from that batch.

No that yeast is gone. Would you not recommend using my washed yeast?

That's a tough call. I tend to stretch out the duration of my washed yeast (never 1 year), but when it becomes borderline, I usually just spring for a new vial.
I'd rather spend $7 than ruin a $40 batch of beer with bad yeast.
