I'm getting ready to build a nice heating and cooling, 2-3 bucket sized fermentation chamber. Lacking a pickup truck, haven't gotten around to getting the foam insulation sheets yet.
In the meantime, I wanted to brew so I found some piece of crap gift basket lying around, grabbed the aluminum foil and made a trip to the local dollar store for a few plastic ice packs.
$4 later I have a fermenting beer staying at a consistent 67-70* despite being kept in a 75-80* room.
Just line the basket with foil, drop in a couple ice packs, wrap them/insulate them against the bucket with the foil and switch them out for fresh ones every so often.
