I need some help and am stuck at the house during this tropical storm. I am out of priming sugar and have some free time on my hands to bottle some lovely brown beer, but I cant get to the brew store for more priming sugar. Is there a substitute that will work? I am new to this and believe that I have read that some people use kayro syrup or did I read this wrong? Please let me know what if anything I can use and at what ratio.

Thanks for the help!
Grant

Table sugar will work great. Karo has salt and vanilla in it and you have no idea how fermentable it is so you have no idea how much to use.

Some only use table sugar for priming (cane) and there are priming calculators online that will give you an idea of how much to use. It's slightly less than corn sugar.

I use plain white granulated/cane/table sugar almost exclusively (I will occasionally use something less refined for a darker beer)...works great...use one of the online calculators to determine how much to use.

Thanks everyone! Survived the tropical storm by bottling beer and drinking a fresh vanilla porter!
