Hi,

This is my second brew, and I am planning to do a partial marsh. I have chosen to do a Cincinnati Pale Ale, based on the recipe from John Palmer’s How to Brew book.

I bought the following ingredients:
TC Malt Extract Light 1,5kg
TC Malt Extract Amber 1,5kg
12 AAUs of Bittering Hop – Amarillo 6.1 (55gr)
5 AAUs of Finishing Hop - Cascade 6.6 ( 21gr)
3 packets of dried ale yeast

I was wondering if is it possible to do a 19L recipe, using a 10 L pot? Or do I need to buy a larger pot?

Thanks!

The other obvious option:

4. Do a concentrated boil then add half the water after the boil.

Also not sure why 3 packs of yeast!?!? 1/4 pack is seriously enough for 10 liters, or 1/2 pack for 19.

My mistake. should be Amber dry malt extract.

As an aside, you didn't mention the weight of the package of yeast. This can be important as packages can weigh either 6, 10, 11, or 11.5 grams.

It's your second brew. To me, it seems that buying the larger kettle would a good way to follow the recipe.

Thank you for the help! It was 10 grams. I will follow your advice and buy a larger kettle. In that way I can follow the recipe.
