I just acquired a free Coleman cooler that I would like to convert to a mash tun for batch sparging. Problem is no spigot. Am I asking for trouble trying to drill out a drain hole. Appreciate any help!!!

Does it currently have a drain hole? On my 50-quart chest cooler, I just used that hole to install a shank/valve assembly that connects to my CPVC manifold inside. No extra hole required.

If I was going to do mine again I would drill a small hole and then snip the insides out. My drill hole came out a bit wide.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'm gonna try using a forstner bit then filling in the cavity with some pvc. Fingers crossed!
